The Hague is always buzzing with the energy of dance. No wonder the royal residence is known as the number one city of dance. It is home to countless dancers, choreographers and dance companies who collaborate with local theatres and production houses to produce outstanding performances, festivals and educational events.

The Hague has been home to the Nederlands Dans Theater - one of the top dance companies in the world - since 1959 and to Korzo - the Netherlands’ largest dance production house - since 1989. Every autumn, the city is transformed into a dance lover’s paradise, when the Holland Dance Festival (since 1987) and the CaDance Festival come to town.

The Hague has four dance platforms, and there’s one to suit every dance company, from intimate solos to large group performances. The Lucent Danstheater is the Netherlands’ only stage built specifically for dance performances. Dancing also takes place on a regular basis at unusual locations around the city, for example in the atrium of the city hall, on the streets during the Dance Parade or on the beaches and at schools.

Production house Korzo frequently hosts new and interesting dance productions, which receive national and international acclaim. National and international dance students flock to the city to study at the Royal Conservatoire or attend a series of workshops offered as part of the various summer dance courses. Talent scouting projects - such as Crosstown Den Haag and The Hague Moves - are also hosted in The Hague, as are community art projects aimed at collaboration between professionals and amateurs, such as
The Nutcracker (‘De Notenkraker’) at the Grote Kerk by De Dutch Don't Dance Division, The Butterfly Project and Loket 25.

In brief, The Hague is the metropolis of dance: The Hague Dances!
